De vaders van Edgar Hoover, Mike en Dennis, wilden een top 100 samenstellen om het mensen gemakkelijker te maken die eventueel moeite hebben met kiezen. Uiteraard blijft het wel een subjectieve top 100; dat dan weer wel. Echter, de lijsten die zij apart van elkaar samenstelden wijkten dusdanig af, dat er besloten was om een top 200 te maken.
